It has been a long time coming, but finally a track has surfaced for the highly anticipated followup to Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros’ debut album. The first track “Man on Fire,” is a folky, sing-along track that has a quiet energy that builds upon itself through its choruses and seems to emanate a lot of what we have seen and heard from their past effort, the jangles, tender instrumentations and the beautiful harmonies. It’s exciting to finally hear new material, and this really makes me want to hear more.
J. Period & G. Brown Present…March 9 Vol. 2 - In The Limelight
Even though this isn’t technically a cover, it feels like one. More importantly, Christopher George Latore Wallace passed on March 9th, 1997. Check out the critically acclaimed tribute mixtapes to kThe Notorious B.I.G. by J. Period & G. Brown, here.
The 4evaNaDay mixtape is such a breath of fresh air for me. I’ve listened to it over half a dozen times from start to finish in just two days. It’s influenced by Jazz and reminiscent of Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, a compliment of the highest degree. Download it for free, here.
